The National Information Technology Alert Service and the National IT Incident Reporting Scheme were funded by the Australian Federal Government. Although funding ceased prior to 2008, AusCERT has until now continued to support the scheme alongside its other activities, in the interest of the Australian business community. Unfortunately, other competing priorities has made this situation untenable and this service will be discontinued on the 27th February 2010.
For organisations who are already AusCERT members, this will not affect your existing AusCERT subscription or services.
For those people who were subscribed to the Alert Service, there are several options available:
- Subscribe to the free Stay Smart Online Alert Service, operated by AusCERT and which is funded by the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy. The Stay Smart Online Alert Service provides home users and small to medium enterprises with information on the latest computer network threats and vulnerabilities in simple, non-technical, easy to understand language. It will also provide solutions to help manage these risks. You can sign up at the following link:
https://www.ssoalertservice.net.au/user/?action=register
- There is a complete list of the AusCERT's security bulletins available on our site, but some bulletins will require AusCERT member access in order to read the advisory text.
- AusCERT offers subscription membership that includes a more technical and comprehensive range of security bulletins along with 24 hours incident response, practical advice and support to counter security threats against organisations operating a network. To find out more about membership you can visit the following URL:

For anyone subscribed to the AusCERT National alerting service, thank you for your support and we hope that this service was useful.
AusCERT still accepts reports regarding information security incidents from the general public. The best way to submit such reports is via email to the address: auscert@auscert.org.au. See also our Contact Information page for additional information.
