Member content until: Saturday, October 24 2009

OVERVIEW

A number of vulnerabilities have been identified and corrected in
        IBM WebSphere MQ.

IMPACT

The IBM ISS X-Force team have provided the following information
        regarding these vulnerabilities:

"IBM WebSphere MQ server is vulnerable to a denial of service,
caused by an unspecified error related to the server channel pool
process. By sending a specially-crafted request containing malformed
inbound data on a SVRCONN channel, a remote attacker could exploit
this vulnerability to cause an access violation resulting in a denial
        of service." [1]

"IBM WebSphere MQ server is vulnerable to a denial of service,
caused by an error in the rriDecompress function. By sending a
specially-crafted request containing malformed inbound data on a
SVRCONN channel, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability
to cause an access violation resulting in a denial of service." [2]

"IBM WebSphere MQ is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by a
memory overwrite when asynchronous consume via MQCB and MQCTL calls
or readahead in a client application are used. A remote
authenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability using
vectors related to a timing window where the state could become
invalid to cause a server channel process failure." [3]

MITIGATION

All three vulnerabilities affect IBM, WebSphere MQ 7.0 and can be
corrected by installing Fix Pack 7.0.1.1 or later. The second
vulnerability affects IBM, WebSphere MQ 6.0 and can be corrected
by installing Fix Pack 6.0.2.8 or later.
