IMPACT The vendor has provided the following information regarding these HotFixes and their associated vulnerabilities: SSL Renegotiation vulnerability - CVE-2009-3555 "A Man in the Middle attack allows an attacker to inject an arbitrary amount of chosen plaintext into the application protocol stream data during an SSL session renegotiation. This may provide an attacker the ability to perform arbitrary actions on affected websites with user's credentials. This vulnerability does not allow one to decrypt the intercepted network communication." [1] MITIGATION The vendor has announced that BIG-IP version 9.4.8 HF1 resolves this issue. [2] The vendor has also made the following statement regarding hotfixes for this issue: "An engineering hotfix has been issued for FirePass versions 6.1, 6.0.3, 6.0.2, 5.5.2, 5.5.1, and 5.5. Customers affected by this issue should contact F5 Networks Technical Support, referencing this Solution number and the associated CR number (CR132177), to request the hotfix."
