OVERVIEW

Internet Systems Consortium have released an update to BIND 9.6. This
        update includes security fixes.

IMPACT

ISC list the following as security issues that have been corrected:

        * Do not attempt to validate or cache out-of-bailiwick data returned
with a secure answer; it must be re-fetched from its original
source and validated in that context. [1]

        * Cached CNAME or DNAME RR could be returned to clients without DNSSEC
          validation. [1]

        * Bogus NXDOMAIN could be cached as if valid. [1]

        * A specially crafted update packet will cause named to exit. [1]

        * When validating, track whether pending data was from the additional
section or not and only return it if validates as secure. [1]
