OVERVIEW

        Wireshark versions 1.0.13 and 1.2.8 have been released to resolve a
        denial of service vulnerability.


IMPACT

        The vendor has provided the following information regarding the
        vulnerability:
        
        "It may be possible to make Wireshark crash by convincing someone to
        read a malformed packet trace file." [1.2]


MITIGATION

        The vendor has provided versions 1.0.13 and 1.2.8 for download from
        their site. [3]
        
        Other vendors which package wireshark are expected to update shortly.
