OVERVIEW

        An update has been released for Ruby, correcting a security 
        vulnerability on the Windows platform.


IMPACT

        The vendor has provided the following information regarding this
        vulnerability:
        
        "A security vulnerability that causes buffer overflow when you 
        assign a danger value to ARGF.inplace_mode on Windows. It possibly 
        allows an attacker to execute an arbitrary code." [1]
        
        This vulnerability reportedly only affects version 1.9. [1]


MITIGATION

        Users can download the patch from the vendor's website. [1]
