OVERVIEW

        A vulnerability has been identified in Apache Commons Collections 
        prior to version 4.1.


IMPACT

        Apache has provided the following information about the 
        vulnerability and the 4.1 release:
        
        "... this release provides a mitigation for a known remote code 
        exploitation via the standard java object serialization mechanism. 
        Serialization support for unsafe classes in the functor package has
        been completely removed (classes do not implement the Serializable 
        interface anymore)" [1]


MITIGATION

        The vendor recommends upgrading to release 4.1. [1]
