-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 =========================================================================== AUSCERT Security Bulletin ASB-2018.0276 A vulnerability has been identified in Apache Tomcat's JK ISAPI Connector 1 November 2018 =========================================================================== AusCERT Security Bulletin Summary --------------------------------- Product: Apache Tomcat Operating System: Windows UNIX variants (UNIX, Linux, OSX) Impact/Access: Access Confidential Data -- Remote/Unauthenticated Reduced Security -- Remote/Unauthenticated Resolution: Patch/Upgrade CVE Names: CVE-2018-11759 Member content until: Saturday, December 1 2018 OVERVIEW A vulnerability has been identified in Apache Tomcat JK ISAPI Connector prior to version 1.2.46. [1] IMPACT Apache have provided the following details regarding the vulnerability: "Important: Information disclosure CVE-2018-11759 The Apache Web Server (httpd) specific code that normalised the requested path before matching it to the URI-worker map did not handle some edge cases correctly. If only a sub-set of the URLs supported by Tomcat were exposed via httpd, then it was possible for a specially constructed request to expose application functionality through the reverse proxy that was not intended for clients accessing the application via the reverse proxy. It was also possible in some configurations for a specially constructed request to bypass the access controls configured in httpd. While there is some overlap between this issue and CVE-2018-1323, they are not identical." [1] MITIGATION Apache have provided the following mitigation advise: "Users of affected versions should apply one of the following mitigations: - Upgrade to Apache Tomcat JK ISAPI Connector 1.2.46 or later. - Use alternative measures (e.g. the remote address filter) to restrictaccess to trusted users.
