The information in the following Security Bulletin should be acted
upon as soon as possible.  Hewlett-Packard Company will not be
liable for any consequences to any customer resulting from customer's
failure to fully implement instructions in this Security Bulletin as
soon as possible.

PROBLEM: In HP sendmail(1m) release 8.8.6, 8.9.3, and 8.11.1, under
         certain conditions an email queue warning message is
         returned with the Diagnostic-Code and incorrect
         information not intended to be seen without authorization.

PLATFORM: HP 9000 Series 700/800 Servers running HP-UX 10.20, 11.00,
          and 11.11.

DAMAGE:   Information possibly revealed to unauthorized users.

SOLUTION: Install the appropriate patch for HP-UX releases as
          described below:

             11.00             PHNE_24419
             11.00             sendmail 8.11.1 web release upgrade
             11.11             PHNE_25184
             11.11             sendmail 8.11.1 web release upgrade

A. Background
   This affects sendmail(1m) 8.8.6 on HP-UX 10.20 and 11.00,
   sendmail(1m) 8.9.3 on HP-UX 10.20, 11.00 and 11.11, and
   sendmail(1m) 8.11.1 (webrelease) on HP-UX 11.00 and 11.11.
   An email queue warning is returned to the sender
   with a Diagnostic-Code including incorrect information.

B. Recommended solution
   The problem can be fully rectified by application of one of
   these patches to the appropriate HP-UX release:

             10.20             PHNE_25183
             11.00             PHNE_24419
             11.00             sendmail 8.11.1 web release upgrade
             11.11             PHNE_25184
             11.11             sendmail 8.11.1 web release upgrade


   These patches can be retrieved from the ITRC at www.itrc.hp.com
   and provide the sendmail(1m) 8.9.3 upgrade.
   The webrelease only, however, can be retrieved from:
