NOTE: This problem does not affect the security of the OpenVMS operating system. If ACMS is not installed, this patch is not required. To verify if ACMS has been installed use the following command: $ ACMS/SHOW SYSTEM If ACMS is not installed OpenVMS will return a "%DCL-W-IVVERB, unrecognized command verb" error message. If ACMS is installed, ACMS will return a status message with the installed version of ACMS. VERSIONS IMPACTED: ACMS V4.3 for OpenVMS Alpha V7.2-2, V7.3. ACMS V4.4 for OpenVMS Alpha V7.2-2, V7.3. RESOLUTION: Compaq has created patches for ACMS V4.3 for OpenVMS Alpha V7.2-2, V7.3. The ACMS V4.3 patch is available from the FTP site http://ftp.support.compaq.com/patches/public/vms/axp/ (choose the version directory required and download the appropriate patch.) ACMS V4.4 customers should upgrade to V4.4A immediately. After completing the update, Compaq strongly recommends that you perform an immediate backup of your system disk so that any subsequent restore operations begin with updated software. Otherwise, you must reapply the patch after a future restore operation. Also, if at some future time you upgrade your system to a later patch version, you may need to reapply the appropriate patch.
