Patch available for ColdFusion MX 7 cross-site scripting issue when Global
Script Protection is not enabled

   Release date: February 13, 2007

   Vulnerability identifier: APSB07-03

   CVE number: CVE-2006-5859

   Platform: All platforms

Affected software versions

   ColdFusion MX 7

Summary

A specially crafted URL could be used to create a cross-site scripting
attack on ColdFusion when Global Script Protection is not enabled.

Solution

Adobe recommends ColdFusion MX 7 users [92]apply the following update
   using the installation instructions below.

NOTE: Back up existing files before making changes. As always, test
the changes in a non-production environment before applying the
   changes to production servers.

   To install:
    1. Update to ColdFusion MX 7.0.2, if currently running ColdFusionMX
       7.0 or ColdFusion MX 7.0.1
    2. Download and unzip the files contained in [93]the hot fix (22K)
       file.
    3. Back up the following files contained in the
       {webroot}/CFIDE/administrator directory:
          + Linkdirect.cfm
          + Topnav.cfm
          + Welcomedoc.cfm
    4. Copy the above listed files contained in [94]the hot fix file in
       to the {webroot}/CFIDE/administrator directory.
    5. Restart ColdFusion MX 7.

Severity rating

Adobe categorizes this as a [95]moderate issue and recommends affected
   users patch their installations.

Details

A specially crafted URL could be used to create a cross-site scripting
attack on ColdFusion when Global Script Protection is not enabled.
This issue will not occur if the `Enable Global Script Protection' is
checked in the admin settings page of ColdFusion as recommended. A
specially crafted URL sent to the ColdFusion server could result in
the attacker being able to conduct cross site scripting attacks
against users of certain browsers. This issue is remotely exploitable.
