Solution Type: Sun Alert
Solution 201251 : Cross-site Scripting (XSS) Vulnerability in the
Sun Java System Access Manager Administration Console
   Bug ID: 6530724

   Product
Sun Java System Access Manager 7.1
Sun Java System Access Manager 7 2005Q4

   Date of Workaround Release: 27-Feb-2008

   SA Document Body
Cross-site Scripting (XSS) Vulnerability in the Sun Java System Access
   Manager Administration Console

1. Impact

A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in parsing the "Help" and
"Version" Windows of the Sun Java System Access Manager Administration
Console may allow local and remote unprivileged users to access
   unauthorized data.

This issue may allow an unprivileged remote user to inject arbitrary
URLs into affected web pages, thereby allowing access to the login
credentials of the administrator and other users of the Access Manager
   application.

Sun acknowledges with thanks, Steven Adair of NASA for discovering and
   reporting this issue.

2. Contributing Factors

This issue can occur in the following releases:

   SPARC Platform:
     * Sun Java System Access Manager 7.1 (for Solaris 8, 9 and 10)
       without patch 126356-01
     * Sun Java System Access Manager 7 2005Q4 (7.0) (for Solaris 8, 9
       and 10) without patch 120954-06

   x86 Platform:
     * Sun Java System Access Manager 7.1 (for Solaris 8, 9 and 10)
       without patch 126357-01
     * Sun Java System Access Manager 7 2005Q4 (7.0) (for Solaris 9 and
       10) without patch 120955-06

   Linux:
     * Sun Java System Access Manager 7.1 without patch 126358-01
     * Sun Java System Access Manager 7 2005Q4 (7.0) without patch
       120956-06

   Windows:
     * Sun Java System Access Manager 7.1 without patch 126359-01
     * Sun Java System Access Manager 7 2005Q4 (7.0) without patch
       124296-06

   HP-UX:
     * Sun Java System Access Manager 7.1
     * Sun Java System Access Manager 7 2005Q4 (7.0)

   Notes:
    1. Sun Java System Access Manager 6.3, 6.2 and 6.1 are not affected
       by this issue.
    2. This issue is not referenced in the patch READMEs as it has been
fixed in the Sun Java Web Console module which is shipped with the
       Sun Java System Access Manager.

To determine the version of Access Manager on a Solaris system, the
   following command can be run:
% pkginfo -l SUNWamsvc || echo "Sun Java Access Manager not installed"
          PKGINST: SUNWamsvc
NAME: Sun Java System Access Manager Services
         CATEGORY: application
             ARCH: all
          VERSION: 7.1,REV=06.12.19.15.12

% pkginfo -l SUNWamsvc || echo "Sun Java Access Manager not installed"
          PKGINST: SUNWamsvc
NAME: Sun Java System Access Manager Services
         CATEGORY: application
             ARCH: all
          VERSION: 7.0,REV=05.08.10.09.17

To determine the version of Sun Java System Access Manager on other
systems, the following command can be run
    # <access-manager-install-dir>/bin/amadmin --version
Sun Java System Access Manager 7.1
    # <access-manager-install-dir>/bin/amadmin --version
Sun Java System Access Manager 2005Q4

(where <access-manager-install-dir> is the installation directory of
the Sun Java System Access Manager).
