Impact A security vulnerability relating to the posix_fallocate(3C) system call may allow a local unprivileged user to panic the system, which is a type of Denial of Service (DoS). 2. Contributing Factors This issue can occur in the following releases: SPARC Platform: * OpenSolaris based upon builds snv_29 through snv_90 x86 Platform: * OpenSolaris based upon builds snv_29 through snv_90 Note: Solaris 8, 9 and 10 are not impacted by this issue OpenSolaris distributions may include additional bug fixes above and beyond the build from which it was derived. Symptoms When this issue occurs, the system will produce a panic message similar to the following: panic[cpu12]/thread=30018c432e0: ufs_putapage: bn == UFS_HOLE with a stack trace similar to the following: vpanic() real_panic_v() ufs_fault_v() ufs_fault() ufs_putapage() pvn_vplist_dirty() ufs_putpages() fop_putpage() ufs_syncip() ufs_flush_inode() ufs_scan_inodes() ufs_flush() ufs__fiolfs() allocsp_wlockfs() ufs_allocsp() ufs_space() fop_space() fcntl() syscall_trap32() 4.
