Multiple Security Vulnerabilities in the Adobe Flash Player for Solaris May
Lead to a Denial of Service (DoS) or Arbitrary Code Execution (Adobe Security
Bulletin APSB09-19)

1. Impact
Multiple security vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player 10.0.32.18 and
earlier versions may allow a local or remote unprivileged user to
execute arbitrary code with the privileges of a local user on the
system or to cause Adobe Flash Player to crash, resulting in a Denial
of Service (DoS).
These issues are also described in the following documents:

APSB09-19 at
http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb09-19.html
CVE-2009-3794 at
http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2009-3794
CVE-2009-3796 at
http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2009-3796
CVE-2009-3797 at
http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2009-3797
CVE-2009-3798 at
http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2009-3798
CVE-2009-3799 at
http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2009-3799
CVE-2009-3800 at
http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2009-3800

2. Contributing Factors
These issues can occur in the following releases:
SPARC Platform
  * Solaris 10
  * OpenSolaris based upon builds snv_01 through snv_130

x86 Platform
  * Solaris 10
  * OpenSolaris based upon builds snv_01 through snv_130

Notes:

1. These issues can occur in Flash Player 10.0.32.18 and earlier
versions for Solaris

2. Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 are not affected by these issues.

3. OpenSolaris distributions may include additional bug fixes above
and beyond the build from which it was derived. The base build can be
derived as follows:
$ uname -a
SunOS hostname 5.11 snv_86 i86pc i386 i86pc

The Flash Player shipped with Solaris is a Web Browser plugin, meaning
that the Web Browser should be used to determine the version of the
Flash Player in use. For example, when using the Mozilla Browser,
visit the following URL:

about:plugins

and search for the Flash Player in the list of plugins.

3. Symptoms
Should the described issues occur, the web browser may crash and
potentially create a core dump depending on the system configuration.
There are no predictable symptoms that would indicate these issues
have been exploited to execute arbitrary code.

4. Workaround
For Firefox 2.x and Mozilla 1.7 users, remove the Flash Player from
the system.
For Firefox 3.x users, disable Flash Player by doing the following:

Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins -> ShockWave Flash -> Disable

5. Resolution
These issues are addressed in the following releases:
SPARC Platform
  * OpenSolaris based upon builds snv_131 or later

x86 Platform
  * OpenSolaris based upon builds snv_131 or later

A final resolution is pending completion for Solaris 10.
