Impact An integer overflow vulnerability in the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP(1)) may allow a local or remote unprivileged user to crash gimp via a carefully crafted Bitmap (bmp) image file, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) or to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of a local user using gimp application. This issue is also described in the following document: CVE-2009-1570 at http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2009-1570 2. Contributing Factors This issue can occur in the following releases: SPARC Platform * Solaris 10 * OpenSolaris based upon builds snv_87 through snv_128 x86 Platform * Solaris 10 * OpenSolaris based upon builds snv_87 through snv_128 Note 1: Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 do not ship GIMP and are thus not impacted by this issue. Note 2: OpenSolaris distributions may include additional bug fixes above and beyond the build from which it was derived. The base build can be derived as follows: $ uname -a snv_115 3.
