ESA-2011-001: RSA, The Security Division of EMC, addresses RKM 1.5 C Client SQL Injection Vulnerability

Security Advisory
Updated January 13, 2011

Summary:

The vulnerability that was identified in the RSA Key Manager (RKM) C client 1.5 which may expose the product to SQL Injection attack has been addressed. An attacker having access to encrypted data could have leveraged this vulnerability to alter the RKM C Client 1.5 cache.

Platforms:

RKM C Client versions 1.5.x.x, all platforms (Windows, HP-UX)

Description:

CVE Identifier: CVE-2010-1904

The vulnerability was that cache could be modified to insert an arbitrary encryption key that may lead to data unavailability (such as decryption failure of data encrypted by that modified key). There was no impact on confidentiality of the data as the attacker would need the cache encryption key in order to decrypt the data.

The fix addresses this vulnerability for the below platforms.

\x{149}Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or higher
\x{149}Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 SP1
\x{149}HP-UX v11.11 PA 2.0, 32-bit
Since the other platforms supported by this version of the RKM C Client have reached their end of support life, the fix is not extended to them.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Base Score:

The Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Base Score for the items identified in this advisory is 4.8 (AV:L/AC:M/Au:M/C:N/I:P/A:C). For more information on CVSS scoring, please see the Knowledge Base Article, "Security Advisories Severity Rating" at https://knowledge.rsasecurity.com/scolcms/knowledge.aspx?solution=a46604.

Unaffected Products:

RKM C Client 2.0.x, all platforms
RKM C Client 2.1.x, all platforms
