Version: 1.0

General Information

Executive Summary

This security update resolves a publicly disclosed vulnerability in the MHTML
protocol handler in Microsoft Windows. The vulnerability could allow
information disclosure if a user opens a specially crafted URL from an
attacker's web site. An attacker would have to convince the user to visit the
web site, typically by getting them to follow a link in an e-mail message or
Instant Messenger message.

This security update is rated Important for all supported editions of Windows
XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7, and is rated Low for all supported editions
of Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2. For

Vulnerability Information

MHTML Mime-Formatted Request Vulnerability - CVE-2011-1894

An information disclosure vulnerability exists in the way that MHTML
interprets MIME-formatted requests for content that are embedded in an HTML
document. Similar to server-side cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities,
it is possible under certain conditions for this vulnerability to allow an
attacker to inject a client-side script in the response to a web request run
in the context of the user's instance of Internet Explorer.
