Abstract

The scan agent of IBM Rational Policy Tester does not allow a user to inspect 
the validity of the certificate presented by the server being scanned or during 
Manual Explore.

CVE ID: CVE-2012-0738

DESCRIPTION: All customers who are using Policy Tester and scanning https 
sites may want to insure the validity of the SSL connection to avoid a man in 
the middle attack. This option is not available in Policy Tester versions that
are listed under affected platforms.

* Versions 5.4 through 8.5.0.2 of IBM Rational Policy Tester running on 
Microsoft Windows are affected.

REMEDIATION: The recommended solution is to apply the fix listed below and 
perform the following changes for jobs that require this option:
* In the job properties of a scan, select Connections and disable the Allow 
connections with invalid/untrusted certificates options under Communication. 
(NOTE: This option is a per job option)

Vendor Fix:
For version 8.5.0.2:
* Apply the 8.5.0.3 Fix Pack

For version 5.4 to version 8.5.0.1:
* If you are unable to upgrade to version 8.5.0.3, contact IBM Technical 
Support

the site being scanned.
