A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

    Ubuntu 13.04
    Ubuntu 12.10
    Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Summary

DBus could be made to crash if it received specially crafted input.
Software description

    dbus - simple interprocess messaging system

Details

Alexandru Cornea discovered that DBus incorrectly handled certain messages.
A local attacker could use this issue to cause system services to crash,
resulting in a denial of service.
Update instructions

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package 
version:

Ubuntu 13.04:
    libdbus-1-3 1.6.8-1ubuntu6.1 
Ubuntu 12.10:
    libdbus-1-3 1.6.4-1ubuntu4.1 
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS:
    libdbus-1-3 1.4.18-1ubuntu1.4

After a standard system update you need to reboot your computer to make
all the necessary changes.
