Vulnerability Details CVE ID: CVE-2013-5401 DESCRIPTION: MQIPT can optionally enable remote administration by listening for commands on a network port. A denial of service vulnerability exists and could be exploited by a remotely connected user to stop the remote administration service. CVSS: CVSS Base Score: 4.3 CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/87297 for the current score CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined CVSS Vector: (AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P) Affected Products and Versions WebSphere MQIPT 2.1.0.0 WebSphere MQIPT 2.0.x Remediation/Fixes REMEDIATION: The recommended solution is to apply the fix for each named product as soon as practical. Please see below for information on the fixes available. FIX WebSphere MQIPT 2.1.0.0 Apply fix pack 2.1.0.1 WebSphere MQIPT 2.0.x Where possible, upgrade to WebSphere MQIPT 2.1.0.1, otherwise see workaround below. Workarounds and Mitigations The CommandPort number is an optional property and this line can be removed from the mqipt.conf file. If the CommandPort property is not present, MQIPT does not listen for configuration commands. Please note that this workaround (disabling the command port listener) means that the MQIPT administration command (mqiptAdmin) will be unable to stop or refresh the MQIPT instance. It will also stop the MQIPT GUI from being able to remotely administer the MQIPT instance. It is always recommended that MQIPT is operated inside a firewall, which is set up to prevent access by untrusted users or systems.
