Summary

A vulnerability (CVE-2012-2190) exists in the Tivoli Storage Manager Server
related to Session ID Lengths and an SSL/TLS Server.

Vulnerability Details

A vulnerability (CVE-2012-2190) exists in the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager
(TSM) server when used with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). An included
component of the server, IBM Global Security Kit (GSKit), allows remote
attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted
ClientHello message in the TLS Handshake Protocol.

and 6.1 the Workaround specified below, or upgrading to a
						fixed, supported release

Note: Upgrading to a 6.3 or higher server also remediates this vulnerability

Workarounds and Mitigations

Remove the ability for client users to use SSL sessions by changing the
server agent option files to remove the SSL communication options, or

Set GSK_V3_SIDCACHE_SIZE=0 and GSK_V2_SIDCACHE_SIZE=0 as server process
environment variables on vulnerable systems.

**Warning**: This above mitigation may have a negative performance impact.

Summary

A vulnerability exists in the Tivoli Storage Manager server related to
SSL/TLS Record Layer Processing (CVE-2012-2191).

Vulnerability Details

A vulnerability (CVE-2012-2191) exists in the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager
(TSM) server when used with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). An included component
of the server, IBM Global Security (GSKit), does not properly validate data
during execution of a protection mechanism against the Vaudenay SSL CBC
timing attack, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service
(application crash) via crafted values in the TLS Record Layer.

CVSS Base Score: 5

CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/75994 for the
current score

IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server 6.1 IBM recommends using the Workaround specified below, or upgrading to a
and 5.5, on AIX and Windows only fixed, supported release

Note: Upgrading to a 7.1 server also remediates this vulnerability.

Workarounds and Mitigations

Remove the ability for client users to use SSL sessions by changing
the server and/or storage agent option files to remove the SSL
    communication options

Or

Use a Stream Cipher such as RC4.

On Server levels 5.5.x.x, 6.1.x.x, and 6.2.x.x, mitigation may be made by
creating an environment variable as follows:

- - Set GSK_V3_CIPHER_SPECS=0504 and GSK_V2_CIPHER_SPECS=1 as a server
process environment variable on vulnerable systems.
