Summary

This vulnerability could allow an attacker to access files on an affected 
server or cause an affected server to make an arbitrary HTTP GET request.

Vulnerability Details

IBM Endpoint Manager could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive 
information, caused by an XML External Entity Injection (XXE) error when 
processing XML data. By sending specially-crafted XML data, an attacker could
exploit this vulnerability to access files and obtain sensitive information on
the server.

Affected Products and Versions

All 9.1 releases of the Console, Root Server, Web Reports and Server API 
earlier than 9.1.1088.0 are affected. Agents and Relays are not affected.

Remediation/Fixes

To apply the fix, upgrade as follows:

Fixlet to upgrade Root Server, Web Reports, Server API - 1763

Fixlet to upgrade Console - 1764

After upgrading the server components to 9.1.1088.0, the following steps 
should be performed to revoke any credentials that could have been 
compromised:

1) Rotate the server signing key:

2) Rotate custom SSL certificates in Web Reports or the Root Server, if you 
are using them (Note: this is not common).

3) On Linux deployments, change any database or network proxy passwords that 
are in the Root Server or Web Reports settings

All 8.2 releases of Web Reports and Server API earlier than 8.2.1445.0. are 
affected. Releases of Root Servers, Agents, and Relays are not effected.

Remediation/Fixes

To apply the fix, upgrade as follows:

Fixlet to upgrade Web Reports Executable - 1772

Fixlet to upgrade Server API - 1787

First upgrade the Web Reports and Server API to 8.1.1445.0.

* Upgrading server components to 8.2.1445.0 is only applicable from 8.2.1409.0

** If you have an earlier version of Web Reports or the Platform API for 8.2,
first upgrade to version 8.2.1409.0 and then upgrade to version 8.2.1445.0.
