Vulnerability Alert

Cisco FireSIGHT Management Center Dashboard Deletion Vulnerability

Threat Type: CWE-399: Resource Management Errors

IntelliShield ID: 39256

Version: 1

First Published: 2015 June 09 16:06 GMT

Last Published: 2015 June 09 16:06 GMT

Port: Not available

CVE: CVE-2015-0773

Urgency: Unlikely Use

Credibility: Confirmed

Severity: Harassment

CVSS Base: 4.0

CVSS Version 2.0

CVSS Temporal: 3.3

Version Summary: Cisco FireSIGHT Management Center contains a vulnerability
that could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to make unauthorized
modifications on a targeted device. Updates are available.

Description

A vulnerability in management interface used to delete VPNs in the Cisco
FireSIGHT Management Center could allow an authenticated, remote attacker with
limited user permissions to delete another user's VPN dashboard.

The vulnerability occurs because the product does not properly validate the
deletion request. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by tampering
with a management session and modifying the deletion request. An exploit could
allow the attacker to delete dashboards that the user account should not be
able to modify.

Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability and released software updates.

Warning Indicators

At the time this alert was first published, Cisco FireSIGHT System Software
versions 5.3.1.3 and 6.0.0 were vulnerable. Later versions of Cisco FireSIGHT
System Software may also be vulnerable.

IntelliShield Analysis

To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must authenticate to the targeted
device. This access requirement decreases the likelihood of a successful
exploit.

Cisco indicates through the CVSS score that functional exploit code exists;
however, the code is not known to be publicly available.

Vendor Announcements

Cisco has released bug ID CSCut67078 for registered users, which contains
additional details and an up-to-date list of affected product versions.

Impact

An authenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to delete
the VPN dashboard of a targeted user, which could result in a denial of
service (DoS) condition.

Technical Information

The vulnerability is due to improper validation of the deletion request by an
affected device.

An authenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by
tampering with a management session and modifying the deletion request. An
exploit could allow the attacker to delete another user's VPN dashboard, which
could result in a DoS condition.

Safeguards

Administrators are advised to apply the appropriate updates.

Administrators are advised to allow only trusted users to have network access.

Administrators are advised to allow only privileged users to access

Cisco FireSIGHT Management Center Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Threat Type: CWE-79: Cross-Site Scripting (XSS)

IntelliShield ID: 38883

Version: 1

First Published: 2015 June 08 21:52 GMT

Last Published: 2015 June 08 21:52 GMT

Port: Not available

CVE: CVE-2015-0737

Urgency: Unlikely Use

Credibility: Confirmed

Severity: Mild Damage

CVSS Base: 4.3

CVSS Version 2.0

CVSS Temporal: 4.1

Version Summary: Cisco FireSIGHT Management Center contains a vulnerability
that could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to conduct cross-site
scripting attacks. Updates are not available.

Description

A vulnerability in the Cisco FireSIGHT Management Center could allow an
unauthenticated, remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS)
attacks.

The vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation of some parameters
passed via HTTP GET or POST methods. An attacker could exploit this
vulnerability by intercepting the user packets and injecting malicious code. A
successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary script code
in the context of the affected site or allow the attacker to access sensitive
browser-based information.

Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability; however, software updates are not
available.

Warning Indicators

At the time this alert was first published, Cisco FireSIGHT System Software
version 5.3.1.1 was vulnerable. Later versions of Cisco FireSIGHT System
Software may also be vulnerable.

IntelliShield Analysis

To exploit the vulnerability, the attacker may provide a link that directs a
user to a malicious site and use misleading language or instructions to
persuade the user to follow the provided link.

Cisco indicates through the CVSS score that functional exploit code exists;
however, the code is not known to be publicly available.

Vendor Announcements

Cisco has released bug ID CSCuu11099 for registered users, which contains
additional details and an up-to-date list of affected product versions.

Impact

An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to
execute arbitrary code in the user's browser session in the context of the
affected site. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to access
sensitive browser-based information such as authentication cookies and
recently submitted data.

Technical Information

The vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation of some parameters
passed to an affected device via HTTP GET or POST methods.

An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by
intercepting the user packets and injecting malicious code. A successful
exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary script code in the
context of the affected site or allow the attacker to access sensitive
browser-based information.

Safeguards

Administrators are advised to contact the vendor regarding future updates and
releases.

Users should verify that unsolicited links are safe to follow.

For additional information about XSS attacks and the methods used to exploit
these vulnerabilities, see the Cisco Applied Mitigation Bulletin Understanding
Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) Threat Vectors.

Administrators are advised to monitor affected systems.

Patches/Software

Software updates are not available.
