Security Bulletin

Summary

There is a vulnerability in IBM WebSphere Application Server that is used
by IBM WebSphere Portal that could allow an HTTP response splitting attack
in Channel.

Vulnerability Details

CVEID: CVE-2015-2017
DESCRIPTION: IBM WebSphere Portal is vulnerable to HTTP response
splitting attacks. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability
using specially-crafted URL to cause the server to return a split response,
once the URL is clicked. This would allow the attacker to perform further
attacks, such as Web cache poisoning, cross-site scripting, and possibly
obtain sensitive information.

Remediation/Fixes

The recommended solutions is to apply the interim fix, Fix Pack or PTF
containing APAR PI45266 for each named product as soon as practical.

For WebSphere Application Server:
For V8.5.0.0 through 8.5.5.7 Full Profile:
· Upgrade to minimal fix pack levels as required by interim fix and then
apply Interim Fix PI45266

- --OR--
· Apply Fix Pack 8.5.5.8 or later (targeted availability 11 December 2015).

For V8.5.0.0 through 8.5.5.7 Liberty Profile:
· Upgrade to a minimal fix pack levels as required by interim fix and
then apply Interim Fix PI45266

- --OR--
· Apply Fix Pack 8.5.5.8 or later (targeted availability 11 December 2015).


For V8.0 through 8.0.0.11:
· Upgrade to a minimal fix pack levels as required by interim fix and
then apply Interim Fix PI45266

- --OR--
· Apply Fix Pack 8.0.0.12 or later (targeted availability 02 February 2016).


For V7.0.0.0 through 7.0.0.37:
· Upgrade to a minimal fix pack levels as required by interim fix and
then apply Interim Fix PI45266

- --OR--
· Apply Fix Pack 7.0.0.39 or later (targeted availability 02 November 2015).

For V6.1.0.0 through 6.1.0.47:
· Upgrade to Fix Pack 6.1.0.47 and then apply Interim Fix PI45266


For unsupported versions IBM recommends upgrading to a fixed, supported
version of the product.
