There are multiple vulnerabilities in IBM Runtime Environment Java Version 8

An InstallAnywhere vulnerability was disclosed by Flexera. InstallAnywhere is
used by IBM WebSphere Appliance Management Center for Microsoft Windows.

DESCRIPTION:

Flexera InstallAnywhere could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary
code on the system. The installer does not specify the full path when loading
a dynamic-link library. By persuading a victim to place a malicious DLL in
the download folder prior to launching the installer, a remote attacker could
exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on the system.

Workarounds and Mitigations

To install:

1. As an administrator, create a new secure directory. The directory must not
exist before and only the administrator should have write permission to it.

2. Unzip the installation media into this new directory.

3. Ensure there are no DLL files in this directory.

4. Run install.exe from this directory to install the product. Proceed with
the installation as normal.
