sol09408132: glibc vulnerability CVE-2011-1659

Security Advisory

Original Publication Date: 08/18/2016

Vulnerability Description

Integer overflow in posix/fnmatch.c in the GNU C Library (aka glibc or libc6)
2.13 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of
service (application crash) via a long UTF8 string that is used in an fnmatch
call with a crafted pattern argument, a different vulnerability than
CVE-2011-1071. (CVE-2011-1659)

Impact

An attacker can send a specially crafted UTF-8 string, which may cause a
target application to restart.

Security Issue Status

F5 Product Development has assigned ID 356183 (BIG-IP) and ID 476571 (ARX) to
this vulnerability.

If you are running a version listed in the Versions known to be vulnerable
column, you can eliminate this vulnerability by upgrading to a version listed
in the Versions known to be not vulnerable column. If the table lists only an
older version than what you are currently running, or does not list a
non-vulnerable version, then no upgrade candidate currently exists.
