The issue may be exposed through advanced, unsupported customization. # The f5-rest-node package on the BIG-IP system may be updated when the BIG-IP system is managed by a BIG-IQ Cloud and Orchestration system or an iWorkflow system. To verify if your BIG-IP system is running a vulnerable version of the f5-rest-node package, you can run the f5-rest-node -v command from the command line. At the time that this article is published, the latest vulnerable version of the f5-rest-node package is 4.2.3 in BIG-IP 12.1.1 HF1. This article will be updated with the fixed version of the f5-rest-node package when the version is released with a fixed BIG-IP software version. Vulnerability Recommended Actions If you are running a version listed in the Versions known to be vulnerable column, you can eliminate this vulnerability by upgrading to a version listed in the Versions known to be not vulnerable column. If the table lists only an older version than what you are currently running, or does not list a non-vulnerable version, then no upgrade candidate currently exists. To determine the necessary upgrade path for your BIG-IQ system, you should understand the BIG-IQ product offering name changes. For more information, refer to SOL21232150: Considerations for upgrading BIG-IQ or F5 iWorkflow systems. Mitigation To mitigate this vulnerability for affected F5 products with the f5-rest-node package, you should only permit management access to the system over a secure network and limit access to trusted users. For more information, refer to SOL13309: Restricting access to the Configuration utility by source IP address (11.x - 12.x) and SOL13092: Overview of securing access to the BIG-IP system.
