A fix is available for a cross-site scripting vulnerability in "IBM Social 
Rendering Templates for Digital Data Connector" (CVE-2016-8936).

CVEID: CVE-2016-8936

DESCRIPTION: IBM Social Rendering Templates for Digital Data Connector is 
vulnerable to cross-site scripting. This vulnerability allows users to embed 
arbitrary JavaScript code in the Web UI thus altering the intended 
functionality potentially leading to credentials disclosure within a trusted 
session.

Upgrade to IBM Social Rendering Templates for Digital Data Connector version 
1.0.0.0 (Update 3)

Workarounds and Mitigations

Until the updated version of "IBM Social Rendering Templates for Digital Data
Connector" is installed, you can apply a workaround using the WCM Authoring 
UI.

Preparation (Required, if the "Social Lists Design" library is not listed in 
the WCM Authoring UI):

Navigate to "WCM Authoring" -> "Preferences" -> "Edit shared Settings" -> 
"Library Selection" -> Select the libary "Social Lists Design" -> "Add" -> 
"OK"

Workaround steps:

1. Navigate to "WCM Authoring" -> "Social Lists Design" -> "Components" -> 
   "Fragments" -> "Bean Message Error" -> "Edit"

2. In HTML Markup find:

   [Plugin:ListRenderingContext action="getExceptionMessage" compute="always"]

3. Add attribute escape="XML" to the element like this:

   [Plugin:ListRenderingContext escape="XML" action="getExceptionMessage" compute="always"]

4. Save and Close

Now the workaround is applied. If you want remove the "Social Lists Design" 
library again from being listed in the WCM Authoring UI, these are the steps:

Navigate to "WCM Authoring" -> "Preferences" -> "Edit shared Settings" -> 
"Library Selection" -> Select the libary "Social Lists Design" -> "Remove" ->
"OK"
