K46535047: F5 TCP IPv6 vulnerability CVE-2016-9252

Security Advisory

Original Publication Date: Mar 23, 2017

Updated Date: Mar 23, 2017

Security Advisory Description

The Traffic Management Microkernel (TMM) in F5 BIG-IP systems before 11.5.4
HF3, 11.6.x before 11.6.1 HF2, and 12.x.x before 12.1.2 do not properly
handle minimum path MTU options for IPv6, which allows remote attackers to
cause a denial of service (DoS) through unspecified vectors. (CVE-2016-9252)

Impact

When this vulnerability is exploited, the system may experience a
denial-of-service (DoS) attack, which can cause the TMM process to restart.

Security Advisory Status

F5 Product Development has assigned ID 597394 (BIG-IP) to this vulnerability.

or features that are affected by the vulnerability, and for information
about releases or hotfixes that address the vulnerability, refer to the
