There are two potential infomation disclosure vulnerabilities that affects the
Java Server Faces (JSF) component used by WebSphere Application Server.

Vulnerability Details

CVEID: CVE-2017-1583
DESCRIPTION: IBM WebSphere Application Server could allow a remote attacker to
obtain sensitive information caused by improper error handling by MyFaces in
JSF.

DESCRIPTION: Apache MyFaces could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive
information. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability using specially
crafted parameters to inject EL expressions into input fields mapped as view
parameters and obtain sensitive information.

Affected Products and Versions

These vulnerabilities affects the following versions and releases of IBM
WebSphere Application Server:

  o Liberty jsf-2.2 feature
  o Version 8.5
  o Version 8.0

Remediation/Fixes

The recommended solution is to apply the interim fix, Fix Pack or PTF
containing APARs PI87300 and PI87299 for each named product as soon as
practical.

For WebSphere Application Server Liberty: For Liberty both fixes are contained
in the one interim fix number PI87300.
. Upgrade to minimal fix pack levels as required by interim fix and then apply
Interim Fix PI87300

. Apply Liberty Fix Pack 17.0.0.3 or later.

For WebSphere Application Server traditional and WebSphere Application Server
Hypervisor Edition:
For V8.5.0.0 through 8.5.5.12:
. Upgrade to minimal fix pack levels as required by interim fixes and then
apply Interim Fix PI87300 and PI87299
- --OR--
. Apply Fix Pack 8.5.5.13 or later (targetted availability 1Q2018).

For V8.0.0.0 through 8.0.0.14:
. Upgrade to a minimal fix pack levels as required by interim fix and then
apply Interim Fix PI87300 and PI87299

. Apply Fix Pack 8.0.0.15 or later (targeted availability 2Q2018).
