Summary

There is a vulnerability (CVE-2018-2783) in IBM(R) SDK Java(TM) Technology Edition
that is used by IBM Process Designer in IBM Business Automation Workflow, IBM
Business Process Manager, and WebSphere Lombardi Edition. The issue was
disclosed as part of the IBM Java SDK updates in April 2018.

Vulnerability Details

CVEID: CVE-2018-2783
DESCRIPTION: An unspecified vulnerability related to the Java SE Security
component could allow an unauthenticated attacker to cause high
confidentiality impact, high integrity impact, and no availability impact.
CVSS Base Score: 7.4
CVSS Temporal Score: See https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/
141939 for the current score
CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N)

Affected Products and Versions

This vulnerability affects IBM Business Automation Workflow V18.0.0.0, IBM
Business Process Manager V7.5.0.0 through V8.6.0 2017.12, and WebSphere
Lombardi Edition V7.2.0.0 through V7.2.0.5.

Remediation/Fixes

The Eclipse-based IBM Process Designer tool includes an instance of the IBM
SDK Java(TM) Technology Edition. In order to provide the fix for this development
tool, install APAR JR59522 depending on your edition:

o IBM Business Automation Workflow V18.0.0.0
o IBM Business Process Manager V8.6
o IBM Business Process Manager Express V8.6
o IBM Business Process Manager Advanced V8.5.7
o IBM Business Process Manager Standard V8.5.7
o IBM Business Process Manager Express V8.5.7

As support for Java 6 with Business Process Manager has ended, if you are on
earlier version of IBM Business Process Manager, or WebSphere Lombardi
Edition, IBM strongly recommends to upgrade to IBM Business Process Manager
version 8.5.7 2017.06 or newer or IBM Business Automation Workflow and to
apply APAR JR59522 IFix.
