K61223103: Linux kernel vulnerability CVE-2017-9074

Security Advisory

Original Publication Date: Mar 16, 2018
Updated Date: Dec 18, 2018

Security Advisory Description

The IPv6 fragmentation implementation in the Linux kernel through 4.11.1 does
not consider that the nexthdr field may be associated with an invalid option,
which allows local users to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read and
BUG) or possibly have unspecified other impact via crafted socket and send
system calls. (CVE-2017-9074)

Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthorized disclosure of information, unauthorized
modification, and disruption of service.

Security Advisory Status

F5 Product Development has assigned ID 709256 (BIG-IP), ID 710329 (BIG-IQ), ID
710328 (Enterprise Manager), and ID 710329 (F5 iWorkflow) to this
vulnerability. Additionally, BIG-IP iHealth may list Heuristic H61223103 on the
Diagnostics > Identified > Medium page.
