Summary

  o A vulnerability in the automatic update process of Cisco Umbrella Roaming
    Client for Windows could allow an authenticated, local attacker to install
    arbitrary, unapproved applications on a targeted device.

    The vulnerability is due to insufficient verification of the Windows
    Installer. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by placing a file
    in a specific location in the Windows file system. A successful exploit
    could allow the attacker to bypass configured policy and install unapproved
    applications.

    Cisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There
    are no workarounds that address this vulnerability.

    complete upgrade solution.

    In all cases, customers should ensure that the devices to be upgraded
    contain sufficient memory and confirm that current hardware and software
    configurations will continue to be supported properly by the new release.
    If the information is not clear, customers are advised to contact the Cisco
    Technical Assistance Center (TAC) or their contracted maintenance
    providers.

    At the time of publication, Cisco Umbrella Roaming Client for Windows
    releases 2.2.356 and later contained the fix for this vulnerability.
