K60130614:Linux kernel vulnerability CVE-2019-19069

Security Advisory

Original Publication Date: 28 Jan, 2020

Security Advisory Description

A memory leak in the fastrpc_dma_buf_attach() function in drivers/misc/
fastrpc.c in the Linux kernel before 5.3.9 allows attackers to cause a denial
of service (memory consumption) by triggering dma_get_sgtable() failures, aka
CID-fc739a058d99. (CVE-2019-19069)

Impact

An attacker may be able to cause a denial-of-service (DoS) attack through
excessive memory consumption.

Security Advisory Status

F5 Product Development has assigned CPF-25165 (Traffix) to this vulnerability.

To determine if your product and version have been evaluated for this
vulnerability, refer to the Applies to (see versions) box. To determine if your
release is known to be vulnerable, the components or features that are affected
by the vulnerability, and for information about releases, point releases, or
hotfixes that address the vulnerability, refer to the following table. For more
information about security advisory versioning, refer to K51812227:

Security Advisory Recommended Actions

If you are running a version listed in the Versions known to be vulnerable
column, you can eliminate this vulnerability by upgrading to a version listed
in the Fixes introduced in column. If the table lists only an older version
than what you are currently running, or does not list a non-vulnerable version,
then no upgrade candidate currently exists.

K86221000:Bash vulnerability CVE-2019-18276

Security Advisory

Original Publication Date: 28 Jan, 2020

Security Advisory Description

An issue was discovered in disable_priv_mode in shell.c in GNU Bash through 5.0
patch 11. By default, if Bash is run with its effective UID not equal to its
real UID, it will drop privileges by setting its effective UID to its real UID.
However, it does so incorrectly. On Linux and other systems that support "saved
UID" functionality, the saved UID is not dropped. An attacker with command
execution in the shell can use "enable -f" for runtime loading of a new
builtin, which can be a shared object that calls setuid() and therefore regains
privileges. However, binaries running with an effective UID of 0 are
unaffected. (CVE-2019-18276)

Impact

An attacker can load a new builtin command, which can be a shared object that
calls setuid() and therefore regains privileges.
