[1] This version of Windows will no longer receive support or security updates. IMPACT Users of Windows XP SP2 will no longer receive security updates. Should new vulnerabilities arise, users should not expect software fixes. MITIGATION While individual future vulnerabilities may have mitigation strategies apart from patching, the only way to ensure the continuing availability of security patches is to upgrade a current version of Windows.
