Security Bulletin

Summary

There are multiple vulnerabilities in IBM Runtime Environment Java
Technology Edition, Version 6 SR 16 that is used by IBM Cognos Command
Center. These issues were disclosed as part of the IBM Java SDK updates
in January 2015. This bulletin also addresses the "FREAK: Factoring Attack
on RSA-EXPORT keys" TLS/SSL client and server vulnerability.

Vulnerability Details

CVEID: CVE-2014-6593
DESCRIPTION: An unspecified vulnerability related to the JSSE component
has partial confidentiality impact, partial integrity impact, and no
availability impact.
CVSS Base Score: 4
CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/100153 for the
current score
CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined
CVSS Vector: (AV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:N)

CVEID: CVE-2015-0138
DESCRIPTION: A vulnerability in various IBM SSL/TLS implementations could
allow a remote attacker to downgrade the security of certain SSL/TLS
connections. An IBM SSL/TLS client implementation could accept the use of
an RSA temporary key in a non-export RSA key exchange ciphersuite. This
could allow a remote attacker using man-in-the-middle techniques to
facilitate brute-force decryption of TLS/SSL traffic between vulnerable
clients and servers.

This vulnerability is also known as the FREAK attack.

CVSS Base Score: 4.3
CVSS Temporal Score: See
http://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/#/vulnerabilities/100691 for the
current score
CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined
CVSS Vector: (AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:N)

Affected Products and Versions

    IBM Cognos Command Center 10.1
    IBM Cognos Command Center 10.2
    IBM Cognos Command Center 10.2.1

Remediation/Fixes

Remediation

The recommended solution is to apply the IBM JRE 6.0 SR16FP3 to the
following versions of IBM Cognos Command Center:

    IBM Cognos Command Center 10.1
    IBM Cognos Command Center 10.2
    IBM Cognos Command Center 10.2.1

The fix for all affected versions is found here:

http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/swg/quickorder?parent=Cognos&product=ibm/Information+Management/Cognos+Command+Center&release=10.2.0&platform=All&function=fixId&fixids=10.2-BA-CCC-Win32-JRE-60SR16FP3

Installation instructions for applying this fix.

For Windows servers where the Agent or Server component is installed.

1. Download the 32 bit IBM Java JRE (file name:
   ibm-java-jre-60-win-i386.zip, Size: 75 MB).
2. Stop the CccServer, CccQueue and CccAgent Windows services.
3. For IBM Cognos Command Center 10.1 and 10.2: Rename the
   <INSTALLDIR>\Common\java directory to <INSTALLDIR>\Common\java.orig
4. For IBM Cognos Command Center 10.2.1:Rename the
   <INSTALLDIR>\Common\java.6.0.16.0 directory to
   <INSTALLDIR>\Common\java.6.0.16.0.orig
5. For IBM Cognos Command Center 10.1 and 10.2: Unpack the content of
    the ibm-java-jre-60-win-i386.zip file to <INSTALLDIR>\Common\java
6. For IBM Cognos Command Center 10.2.1: Unpack the content of the
    ibm-java-jre-60-win-i386.zip file to <INSTALLDIR>\Common\java.6.0.16.0
7. Start the CccAgent, CccQueue and CccServer Windows services.
8. Validate the installation by testing the connectivity to the agent
    using the CCC Client.
