Version Summary: Cisco Edge 340 devices contain a vulnerability that could 
allow an authenticated, local attacker to gain elevated privileges. Updates 
are available.

Description

A vulnerability in the system configuration of Cisco Edge 340 could allow an 
authenticated, local attacker to run arbitrary programs with elevated 
privileges.

The vulnerability is due to insufficient access control protections. An 
attacker could exploit this vulnerability by logging in to the system and 
executing commands that could lead to elevated privileges. An exploit could 
allow the attacker to execute commands as the root system user.

Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability and released software updates.

Warning Indicators

Cisco Edge 300 Series versions 1.0 and 1.1 are affected.

IntelliShield Analysis

To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must authenticate and have local 
access to the targeted device. This access requirement decreases the 
likelihood of a successful exploit.

Vendor Announcements

Cisco has released bug ID CSCur18132 for registered users, which contains 
additional details and an up-to-date list of affected product versions.

Impact

An authenticated, local attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute 
arbitrary commands as the root system user. A successful exploit could result
in a complete system compromise.

implemented on an affected device.
