- --------------------------BEGIN INCLUDED TEXT--------------------

XSS vulnerability in FortiGate DHCP monitor WebUI page

Risk 3 Medium

Date Jul 24 2015

Impact Cross-Site Scripting (persistent)

CVE ID CVE-2015-3626

Fixed In Firmware 5.2.4

The Web User Interface of FortiOS 5.2.3 and below is vulnerable to a
persistent cross-site scripting vulnerability in the DHCP monitor page.

Impact

Hostnames of DHCP clients are reflected in the DHCP Monitor page without
proper sanitization. Therefore a specifically crafted hostname provided by a
malicious DHCP client could yield code execution in the security context of
logged in users' browsers, as they view the DHCP Monitor page. The situation
will persist until the malicious DHCP client lease expires.

Affected Products

FortiOS 5.2.3 and lower.

Solutions

Upgrade to FortiOS 5.2.4.

As a workaround the DHCP server can be disabled at the interface level: System
> Network > Interfaces > Edit "interface name" > Untick the "DHCP server"
checkbox.

Acknowledgement

Thanks to Ziv Kamir.
