Flash (Alert)

Abstract

This flash is announcing the impact of Java 6 End of Service (EOS) for the IBM
Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) 5.x suite of products.

Content

IBM SDK Java(TM) Technology Edition, Version 6 is no longer supported on
distributed platforms. IBM stopped providing security fixes to Java 6 on most
platforms in September 2017. For Systems z, Java 6 will be in end of service as
of September 2018. As a result, IBM will not provide any further Java related
security fixes for products that are built with Java 6, and EOS impact
announcements are being published. WebSphere Application Server (WAS) v7.x and
v8.5.5.x on Java 6 JDK will be in EOS as of April 30, 2018.

Impact

IBM Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) version 5.x uses Java 6 and is
being affected.

Recommendation

IBM highly recommends customers that use IBM Watson IoT Continuous Engineering
/ Collaborative Lifecycle Management suite of products upgrade to V6.0.5 due to
potential Java security risks in V5.0.2 and earlier releases of these products.
V6.0.5 is the first release of the Continuous Engineering suite to use the IBM
Java SDK v8. Earlier Continuous Engineering releases V6.0 to 6.0.4 use the IBM
Java SDK v7, both of which are still supported. See IBM developer kits
lifecycle dates for more details.
